Dumka Forest Division

Santhal Pargana was carved out of the then Bhagalpur, Birbhum and Mursidabad districts under British Raj. As the history goes, Santhal Pargana is the direct result of the Santhal rebellion under the leadership of Sido and Kanhu. Santhal Pargana comprises Dumka, Deoghar, Sahebganj, Godda, Pakur and Jamtara. Dumka district is surrounded by hills and forest. Hill ranges from Dumka to Ramgarh popularly known as Ramgarh ki Pahari and Lugua Pahar and big rivers namely Mayurakshi and Ajay and many small rivulets and rivers emanating from these hills are the beauty of the district.

Dumka Forest Division is situated between 86.53° East to 87.43° East to 24.04° North to 24.39° North. This Division is bounded by Godda and Pakur District in the north, Jamtara District in the south, Birbhum (W.B) District in the east & Deoghar District in the west.
